Rohit Shetty was supposed to make the remake of "Ram Lakhan" along with Karan Johar but the filmmaker has now said that he is not doing a remake of the popular 1989 movie.
Rohit said that he and Karan are jointly working on a project, but it is not "Ram Lakhan" remake. "We are not doing it. Me and Karan are doing something else. Very soon, we will tell you what we are doing," Rohit told IANS at an event recently.
The "Dilwale" director also said that he will announce his upcoming project next month. "Let them miss me more. Next month, I will announce what I am doing," he said when asked about his upcoming movie as fans are missing him.
However, it is not certain if the remake of "Ram Lakhan" has been postponed or totally shelved. Earlier, Rohit had confirmed that he has two upcoming movies including "Golmaal 4" and "Ram Lakhan" remake.
"I have two scripts right now. One of 'Golmaal 4' that's confirmed. I think people are waiting for me to start it. The other is the 'Ram Lakhan' remake with Karan Johar. Both the films are at the scripting stage right now. We will start working on them after six months," Rohit had said to the media at Zee Cine Awards 2016.
There have been a lot of speculations on the cast of "Ram Lakhan" remake as well. Of late, there were rumours that Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will play the two leads in the movie.
"Out of all the names being tossed for Lakhan's part, Ranveer was the first choice. Also, last year Anil Kapoor, who played Lakhan, had said that Ranveer was perfect for the role. As for Ram's character (originally played by Jackie Shroff), it was decided that Shahid would be an ideal pick. The actors, however, have not signed on the dotted line," Mid-Day had quoted a source as saying.
