Musical drama Rock On 2 has completed its 1st weekend at the box office, but its 3-day collection is quite poor. The movie failed to put much impact at the Indian box office over the weekend despite being a solo release.
Rock On 2 lacked the required pre-release buzz and even trade experts did not expect any big opening for the film at the box office. Although blessed with a big star cast, Rock On 2 witnessed a disappointing first weekend earning at the domestic market.
The film had collected Rs 2.02 crore nett on its opening day at the Indian box office. Rock On 2 did not witness much jump in its business in the weekend and collected Rs 2.41 crore on its second day.
The Sunday collection also remained quite average as Rock On 2 raked in Rs 2.58 crore, taking its 3-day total nett collection to Rs 7.01 crore at the domestic market. "#RockOn2 is DISAPPOINTING...Fri 2.01 cr, Sat 2.41 cr, Sun 2.58 cr. Total: 7.01 cr. India biz," Taran Adarsh tweeted.
While Rock On was quite appreciated by the critics and had done considerably fair business at the box office, sequel of the film could not rise up to the expectation, at least in the 1st weekend. Apart from lack of required hype around the film, makers of Rock On 2 have opined that the Narendra Modi government's demonetisation scheme has affected the film's business.
While Rock On 2 will face fall in its collection over the weekdays, the upcoming releases next week will further hamper the multi-starrer flick. John Abraham starrer Force 2 and Tum Bin 2 will hit the screens next Friday.
Rock On 2 features Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Shashank Arora and Prachi Desai.
