Akshay Kumar's countless projects are going to keep him busy for the rest of the year. After completing portions of "Rustom," the star is in Chennai to film action sequences with Rajinikanth for "Robot 2" ("2.0").
He begins work Feb. 29, Monday onwards and the first two days will feature shoots for only dummy video footage, after which the cast will be on a non-stop schedule for the next few weeks.
"In this schedule, a high-octane action sequence between Akshay and Rajinikanth will be shot. For the first two days, director Shankar is going to shoot dummy video footage with local stuntmen and once the VFX team delivers the rough output, the action sequence will be shot with Rajinikanth and Akshay," IANS quoted a source as saying.
A high-octane action scene is up on the things-to-do list, for which apparently a whopping Rs 20 crore has been shelled. A massive set has been erected in Poonamalle, West Chennai, and action master Stunt Silva is in charge of training local stuntmen. Aaron Crippen of "Batman Vs Superman" and Kenny Bates of "Transformers" and "Die Hard" have been pulled on board to supervise the scenes.
Produced by Lyca Productions and helmed by Shankar, the film stars Amy Jackson in the lead but interestingly, she doesn't play a robot in it. "I cannot say anything more about the role. It is quite a challenging one, and if I talk about it, I would give away the entire plot," Amy told The Times of India a few days ago.
In other news, Akshay has been signing different films lately. From bringing a true story to life in "Airlift" to slipping into a naval officer's shoes for upcoming film "Rustom," this superstar is doing what most of his contemporaries aren't. He's also experimenting with genres — "Robot 2" will see him play a baddie and "Housefull 3" a patient with split personality disorder — which is helping him prove his versatility.
