Robin Williams Suicide: Actor Slashed Wrist before Hanging Himself

The much-loved Hollywood actor Robin Williams had cut his wrist and hanged himself with a belt at his home, said a coroner at a press conference.

Williams' personal assistant found his body hanging from a belt at the door of his bedroom in the Northern California house, said Keith Boyd, Marin County's assistant chief deputy coroner.

"Mr. Williams' personal assistant became concerned at approximately 11:45 a.m. when he failed to respond to knocks on his bedroom door," Reuters quoted Boyd.

"His right shoulder area was touching the door with his body perpendicular to the door and slightly suspended. Mr. Williams at that time was cool to the touch with rigor mortis present in his body," he added.

His wife, Susan Schneider, who saw her husband alive on Sunday night before sleeping, had reportedly left the house at around 10 am on Monday, thinking Williams is still asleep. She is said to be sleeping in the other bedroom when he apparently committed suicide.

The officials said there were cuts on the inner wrist of his left hand with dried blood on the wound and a pocket-knife was discovered close to his body. The knife is said to have blood stains on it, the reports suggested.

Based on the preliminary forensics reports and findings, officials said 63-year-old Williams died of asphyxia due to hanging. The final reports, including toxicology reports are awaited, which is said to take over a few weeks—two to three—time.

The coroner has, however, refrained from revealing if any suicide note was found from Williams' room or not.

William who was seeking treatment for depression was deeply into alcohol as well as cocaine and had joined rehabilitation centre for the past few months to get rid of the addiction.

A Twitter page representing God, wrote how God was sorrowful and upset at Williams' death on Wednesday.
