Bollywood celebrities, who have been following Rio Olympics 2016, were quick in congratulating gymnast Dipa Karmakar for creating history by becoming the first Indian to make it to the individual vault finals.
Dipa, who made her debut at the Olympics, finished eighth in the qualifying round. The Tripura girl performed Produnova to secure 14.850 points after two attempts. Dipa will now be performing in the finals, which is scheduled to take place on Aug. 14.
Soon after she qualified for the individual vault, Bollywood celebrities, including Shahid Kapoor, Mandira Bedi, Rahul Bose and Tahir Raj Bhasin, took to Twitter to congratulate her for making Indians proud.
However, Bollywood's megastar Amitabh Bachchan was a bit disappointed, as channels showed athletes from other countries but not Karmakar. The actor later wished her good luck for her performance.
