Bianca Walkden of Great Britain has won Olympic taekwondo bronze in Rio. The 24-year-old scored with two well-timed head shots on her way to beating Moroccos Wiam Dislam 7-1 in their +67kg bout.
Earlier during an action-packed day in Rio, Walkden beat London 2012 champion Milica Mandic of Serbia 5-0, before losing 4-1 to Zheng Shuyin of China in a golden-point round in the semi-finals.
Walkdens success means she has become the third member of Team GB to win a taekwondo medal in Rio, following Jade Jones gold and Lutalo Muhammads heartbreaking silver.
By contrast, Walkdens teammate Mahama Cho narrowly missed out on a medal as he finished fourth in the mens +80kg. The 27-year-old lost 5-4 against Maicon Siqueira of Brazil, after he had earlier beaten Sajjad Mardani of Iran 4-3 in the quarter-finals.
