The much-awaited Kannada movie "Ricky" will see the light of the day on Friday, 22 January. It marks the directorial debut of Rishab Shetty, who was earlier seen in a supporting role in "Ulidavaru Kandanthe".
Rakshit Shetty of "Simple Agi Ondh Love Story" and "Ulidavaru Kandanthe" fame is back after his flop movie "Vaastu Prakaara". He has paired up with Haripriya in "Ricky".
The makers have marketed "Ricky" well and have tried their best to reach out to all section of audience. The lead stars and the director were also in "Majaa Talkies" and Kiccha Sudeep's "Bigg Boss 3" Kannada to promote the film recently. As a result, the film has grabbed quite a bit of attention.
Adding to that, the trailer of "Ricky" has impressed the audience, generating a lot of curiosity about the film. And the success of its audio has come as a big bonus for the film as well.
This positive vibe seems to have helped the makers get a good number of screens: "Ricky" is releasing in over 140 screens in the state. However, the movie has limited shows in Bangalore.
The movie tells a love story set in the backdrop of Maoist issues. A few years ago, the director had witnessed an incident wherein some families had lost their property due to an SEZ (Special economic zone) project by the Central government. This became the inspiration for the story. The Kannada flick also has a beautiful love story involving the lead characters, played by Rakshit Shetty and Haripriya.
"Ricky" has been shot primarily in and around the Dakshina Kannada district. It has also been filmed in Melkote, Bangalore and places outside the states, including in Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir.
The film has Achyuth Kumar, Ravi Kale, Kishore, Pramod Shetty, Veena Sunder, Sadhu Kokila, Manjunath and others in supporting roles. It has Arjun Janya's music, Venkatesh Anguraj's cinematography and NM Vishwa's editing.
