Bollywood director Shekhar Kapur has recently revealed the real reason behind dropping actor Hrithik Roshan from his ambitious project "Paani".
The futuristic film, which is a tale of love in the midst of a water crisis, was conceived years ago with Hrithik considered for the lead role.
"The character I described in the script was completely Hrithik. His manner, his inner world, his conflicts .. were all Hrithik. I sat with AR Rahman and as we composed music together, I always would ask him to imagine Hrithik," Kapur wrote in his blog, on Tuesday.
The director goes on to state his dilemma of choice saying, "And as the years passed, and the script kept evolving.. changing. And Hrithik changed too."
"He went from being a young man uncertain of himself, a young man looking for his identity in this world, with no understanding of the power, the rebellion inside him that would change his life...to what Hrithik is today. The Super Hero," said Kapur, referring to Hrithik's evolving image with the "Krrish" series which was not in tandem to the script's fixture for an amateur character.
He ended his blog post on a hopeful note saying, "I hope that he (Hrithik) would still agree to be in one of my next films. In Hollywood probably."
As for Hrithik, the 38-year-old actor had once expressed his delight at the chance of working with Kapur. "I am working with Shekhar Kapur, which is a lifelong dream. 'Paani' is a dream and I hope it happens!" Hrithik was quoted saying by Zoom.
Presently, Kapur is considering young talent Sushant Singh Rajput, who has already proved his mettle with "Kai Po Che" and "Shuddh Desi Romance". Earlier reports suggested that the "Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart would play the female lead. As of now, the film's makers are yet to finalise the female lead.
"Paani", which will be produced by Yash Raj Films, is expected to go on floors in mid-2014.
