In another welcome change by the government, the reduction in GST rates on movie tickets during the most celebrated week of the year has ushered a new wave of excitement amongst cinema-goers. And the first movie to reap the benefits of this would be Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan's Simmba.
Releasing on December 28, the film will see a massive cost cut in ticket prices in its second week. As per the revised GST slabs, film tickets costing more than Rs 100 will have 18 per cent GST instead of the previous 28 per cent.
Similarly, for film tickets costing up to Rs 100, the GST would be between 18 per cent-12 per cent. The revised GST slab, which would be applicable from January 1, will see an average reduction in ticket prices of somewhere between Rs 25–40.
While Ranveer Singh is gearing up for Simmba release along with Sara Ali Khan, his next Gully Boy directed by Zoya Akhtar is expected to sweep many awards. On top of that, Ranveer has also bagged Karan Johar's magnum opus, Takht, which features Anil Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
On the other hand, Deepika Padukone has started shooting for her untitled next based on acid attack survivor directed by Meghna Gulzar and also has a Vishal Bhardwaj film scheduled in her kitty.
Deepika Padukone has had a number of liplock scenes till date, but now being married to Ranveer Singh, will she have a no onscreen kissing clause in her contract? The actress responded to the question in a rather quirky way during a recent interview with a film magazine.
On being asked about it Deepika's instant reaction came as "Chee!" Now, it is not clear if that means a "no" or "yes".
