The timing is apt for the French series, "The Returned" or "Les Revenants" as it is known, to return to television screens. After a hiatus of three years, the French TV show, based on the movie by the same title, will premiere on Halloween. And season 2 of the thriller series will reveal some truths about the characters who've woken up from the dead.
Season 2 takes off from where season 1 ended, albeit with a time gap of six months. No one in the village has heard from those who returned from the dead and ventured into the forest. The military blockades the town and refuses to believe that the dead exist among the living. Characters like Léna (Jenna Thiam) and her father Jérôme (Frédéric Pierrot) are not credited for their knowledge on what's going on.
Furthermore, Adèle (Clotide Hesme) is about to give birth to Simon's (Pierre Perrier) child and a new character, Berg (Laurent Lucas) is appointed to investigate the floods that took place and is asked to look into the dam that caused it.
In an interview to The Guardian, show creator Fabrice Gobert said that the French idyllic village will learn more about some of its characters. In particular, Victor's weirdness will be explained. Gobert said, "We will learn about Victor's past, his power and whether he can become a normal little kid when that was denied to him."
"The Returned" season 2 premieres in the US on Sunday, 31 October at 10pm ET on Sundance TV. It's UK premiere is slotted for Friday, 16 October at 9pm on More4.
