Despite hitting some controversies, Alphonse Puthren's "Premam" starring Nivin Pauly became a blockbuster hit in Malayalam, breaking many box office records.

Recently, there were reports that "Premam" will be remade in Tamil by superstar Dhanush under his home banner Wunderbar Films. Rumours had it that actor Vijay Sethupathi and Hansika Motwani will play the lead roles in the film. However, during a recent Twitter chat with fans, Dhanush slammed the rumours about the remake version of the film.

When a fan with Twitter handle @Riyasudheen14 asked Dhanush if he is making the Tamil version of "Premam", the "Raanjhanaa" actor said he doesn't have the film's rights.

"I dont have the rights for premam," Dhanush replied to a fan's question.

Meanwhile, the blockbuster film is being remade in Telugu as "Majnu" by Chandoo Mondeti and S Radha Krishna's production venture will have Naga Chaitanya, Shruti Haasan, Amyra Dastur and Anupama Parameswaran in the lead roles. Venkatesh and Nagarjuna are also expected to make special appearances in the film.

Directed by Alphonse Puthren and produced by Anwar Rasheed, "Premam" has Madonna Sebastian, Sai Pallavi, Anupama, Shabareesh Varma, Krishna Shankar, Vinay Forrt and Soubin Sahir in main roles. Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore, the film collected approximately Rs 60 crore becoming the second highest grosser in Malayalam after Mohanlal's "Drishyam".

Meanwhile, on the acting career front, Dhanush will be next seen in "Thangamagan", an untitled Prabhu Solomon film and "Vada Chennai".
