French auto maker Renault's small car is inching closer to its launch in the country. Scheduled to break its cover on 20 May, Renault has kick started the promotional campaign for its upcoming car codenamed XBA.
Renault XBA, which is supposedly called Kayou, was spied testing on Indian roads quite a few times. Although the numerous spy shots of the model could not unravel the secret completely, the images have given us a fairly good idea of the overall body proportion of the XBA. According to Renault, the upcoming small car is "A bold, striking design complemented by a host of state-of-the-art technologies."
Renault XBA aka Kayou, is based on CMF-A (Common Module Family – Affordable) and is likely to be offered in four variants .Under the hood, the model which is designed to rival Maruti Alto will pack 800cc petrol engine. It is expected to be priced sub ₹4 lakh in India and is also likely to be Renault's first AMT offering. From the word around the web, Renault Kayou aka XBA will be offered in both manual and AMT versions. Other features indicated by the spy shots include single wiper blade for front windshield and outdated rear-view mirrors.
Renault's low cost model will be produced at Renault-Nissan Oragadam Plant in Chennai, and when launched, Renault XBA will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon.
