French auto maker Renault has discontinued the sale of the base variant of its mid-sedan Scala in India.
The company has removed the base variant, RxE, of Scala from the website and at present, the sedan is available in three variants: Petrol RxL, Diesel RxL and Diesel RxZ. Renault Scala has been registering meagre sales in India and this is believed to be the reason behind bringing down the number of the sedan.
In August, Scala sales in India stood at 30 units. The CVT automatic variant of Scala Petrol RxL has also been stopped, reports Team BHP.
Available in both diesel and petrol engine options, Renault Scala Petrol RxL is powered by a 1,498cc, 4-cylinder engine that is tuned to churn out 98bhp @ 6,000 rpm and 134 Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm.
On the other hand, the Diesel RxL and RxZ draw power from a 1,461cc, 4-cylinder mill that can churn out 85bhp @ 3,750 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 2,000 rpm. Both the engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
While the petrol RxL of Scala is priced at Rs 7,72,646, the diesel variants RxZ and RxL cost Rs 9,15,948 and Rs 8,76,199 respectively (ex-showroom, Bangalore).
