French auto maker Renault is preparing to launch its Lodgy MPV in India sometime next year. The car, which is believed to be in the production stage, has been seen testing on the public roads as of late, with the latest one being snapped in Chennai.
Thanks to the folks at Rushlane for the latest spy shots of Lodgy. Renault Lodgy was caught on camera earlier too and interestingly most of these pictures came from Chennai, where the car is being manufactured.
Like we have seen before, in the fresh batch of spy shots, Renault Lodgy is seen wearing heavy camouflage, however the repeated sightings of the MPV indicate that the car inching closer to the launch.
Riding on Renault's popular Duster platform, upcoming Lodgy is expected to reach our shores in early 2015. The MPV, which is seen carrying a boxy design is expected to come with features like parking sensors and reverse camera.
We also hear that the Renault's MPV offering will feature roomy cabin with ample leg room. Inside the cabin, Lodgy is likely to get Duster like features including three-spoke steering, circular AC vents and centre console.
Engine line-up of Lodgy is believed to include 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine in India. At this point of time, other details the MPV are not known, however, there are reports that the Renault Lodgy will get a price tag in the range of ₹8-₹11 lakh in India.
Once it hits our market, Lodgy will face serous competition from the current front-runners of the segment Honda's new Mobilio, Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova, Chevrolet Enjoy and upcoming Datusn Go +.
Datsun Go+ is speculated to make India debut in January. Datsun Go+ MPV, the bigger sibling of Datsun Go hatchback, is expected to be offered only with a petrol engine. The MPV, which is already in the Indonesian market will pack 1,198cc three-cylinder 12-valve petrol motor under the hood, which can churn out a power of 68PS @5,000rpm and a peak torque of 104nm @4,000rpm, coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox.
