It is no secret that French auto maker Renault's newest offering in the small car segment Kwid is nearing its launch in the country. The auto aficionados in India have been drooling over this SUV-like small car since its first appearance in May and now it looks like the maker of Kwid has finally decided to put an end to the waiting.
A fresh batch images of Renault Kwid, which have been taken at a dealership yard of the company, has hit the web indicating that Renault has begun the shipment of the first batch of its soon-to-be-launched Kwid to its dealers in the country. The latest pictures of Kwid have been shared online by CarWale.
Although the exact launch details of Kwid are not known yet, rumours swirling on the web hints at a September launch. The bookings for Kwid are already open in the country and the company has also initiated a pre-launch contest for Kwid named 'Crazy for Kwid'.
Based on CMF-A platform, Renault Kwid is the latest in the small car market to challenge the dominance of Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon. In terms of dimensions, Kwid measures 3679mm long, 1579mm tall and 1471mm wide. It has an impressive wheelbase of 2422mm and offers a ground clearance of 180mm.
The power will come from 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to churn out 54PS and a peak torque of 72Nm. Renault kwid is tuned to offer the best-in class mileage at 25.17kmpl and also has 300-litres boot space.
To be launched in four variants -- Standard, RxE, RxL and RxT -- Renault Kwid will be available in five exterior body shades of Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver and Outback Bronze.
When launched in India, the based model of Renault Kwid is expected to be pegged at a price tag of Rs 3.5 lakh.
