French auto maker Renault's small car Kwid, which was unveiled in May in India, is scheduled to hit roads for the festive season this year.
Earlier this week, auto lovers in the country got a chance to see the model being tested on public roads without camouflage and now coming your way is more details on the engine of Kwid.
Evo India have managed to get the first glimpse of Renault Kwid's new 800 cc three-cylinder petrol engine and going by their words, Kwid's engine will come mated to either a five-speed gearbox or automated manual transmission (AMT), confirming previous rumours that there would be an AMT variant of the car on offer at the Indian market.
Renault Kwid's engine, which will be tuned for better fuel efficiency is expected to churn out 57bhp of power. To be priced in the range of ₹3-₹4 lakh, Renault's new Kwid will take on the likes of small cars like Maruti Alto K10, Hyundai Eon and i10.
As for styling and design, Kwid, based on all-new platform CMF-A, is designed like a SUV and is expected to hit the roads with upmarket and high end features for the price of a small car. With the entry of Kwid, Renault is hoping to rewrite the success of Duster SUV.
The car is expected to get features like optional air bags, Media Nav multimedia and navigation system with Bluetooth connectivity. Rumours are also rife that Renault has roped in Ranbir Kapoor as the brand ambassador for Kwid, who will soon embark on the pre-launch activities for the upcoming car.
