The launch of Renault's hotly anticipated entry-level car has been confirmed, with the emerging reports suggest that Kwid will make its entry on 24 September (Thursday).
It has been revealed that Renault's Kwid, the latest in the small car segment that will challenge the dominance of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon, will make enter the Indian market on 24 September.
Renault Kwid, a small hatch designed like an SUV, is expected to be launched in four variants: Standard, RxE, RxL and RxT. To be priced in the range of Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4 lakh, Renault Kwid measures 3679mm in length, 1579mm in height and 1471mm in width.
Under the hood, Renault Kwid will come plonked with 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to churn out 54PS and a peak torque of 72Nm. The transmission in Kwid is likely to be taken care of either by a manual or an automated manual transmission (AMT).
Kwid, a small hatch with SUV-styling, is expected to offer the best-in-class mileage at 25.17kmpl. The feature list of Kwid will include the segment's first ever touchscreen Media-Nav Navigation System with a seven-inch display, digital instrument console and side body cladding.
The bookings for Kwid are open in the country against a down payment of Rs 5,000 and the model is expected to be available in five exterior colour choices: Fiery Red, Ice Cool White, Planet Grey, Moonlight Silver and Outback Bronze.
