French auto maker Renault's Kwid has been writing success stories since its entry into the market in September this year. The small hatch, which is pitted against the segment front runner Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon, has garnered over 70,000 bookings in India and the demand still seems to be rising.
Not keen to rest on its laurels, the company, which is positioning itself to challenge the intensely competitive market, is now back at the workshop to offer a more powerful Kwid for the auto lovers in the country. Interestingly, the new Kwid in its powerful avatar will also be equipped with safety features such as ABS and airbags.
The 1.0 litre variant of Kwid, which is getting ready for its debut in the first half of 2016, will also be getting ABS and airbags and these safety features would be standard across all variants, reported MotorBeam. Renault Kwid will also get an AMT gearbox to follow the launch of 1.0-litre Kwid.
Offered in four variants — Standard, RxE, RxL and RxT — Renault Kwid is powered by a 799cc 3-cylinder petrol motor, which is tuned to churn out 54PS and a peak torque of 72Nm with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Kwid is the first car to be built on the CMF-A platform and offers the best-in-class mileage at 25.17kmpl. The Kwid is currently on sale with a price tag starting at Rs 2.56 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has a waiting period of up to 10 months in some cities. The prices of Kwid will go up in January
