French carmaker Renault has added new features to its Duster RxS variant in India. The Duster RxS now has a touchscreen infotainment system and the price of the trim remains unchanged at Rs 10.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
In addition to the new 7-inch AVN infotainment system, the Duster RxS now also ensures safety with dual airbags. There is no other change in the Duster in terms of style or design. The Duster, the SUV that redefined the segment in the Indian market, has seen a drop in sales in the recent past, owing to the increasing competition in the market. With the advanced infotainment and safety features, Renault Duster sales are expected to see a push.
The company is also said to be readying a petrol CVT avatar of the Duster for the Indian market. The Duster petrol CVT is expected to be launched in the coming months. Duster petrol CVT is rumoured to get a 1.5 litre mill under the hood. The 1.5 litre engine is likely to be the same that does duty in Nissan Sunny, which can churn out 105bhp of power at 5600rpm and peak torque of 142Nm at 4000rpm.
Currently, the Duster is available with a choice of both diesel and petrol units. Powering the diesel models is a 1.5-litre dci, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine which is tuned to dish out 84bhp at 3750rpm and a peak torque of 200 Nm at 1,750rpm. The petrol version gets 1.6 litre K4M engine that can churn out 102.5bhp of power along with 145Nm of torque at 3750 rpm. The third engine option is the 1.5-litre dCi engine, which generates 109bhp and peak torque of 248Nm. The Duster is currently offered with five-speed manual, six-speed manual transmissions and AMT (automated manual transmission).
