Reliance Jio's surging popularity in India has been the subject of discussion among telecom giants. Now, it is rumoured to confront Airtel on yet another front - the network tracker concept.
As per a Telecomtalk report, Reliance Jio could come out with a 'network coverage monitor' that lets customers to check network towers and 4G signal strength in a particular area along with Wi-Fi connectivity standards. Users could also use this feature to directly convey issues with voice and data to folks at Reliance.
Telecomtalk states that the Reliance Jio facility would be made available on both desktop (via the official website) and mobile platforms. This functionality, as of now, is said to be in beta which means that an early official rollout of the Reliance Jio network coverage monitor cannot be ruled out.
It is rumoured to be in the form of a map that would display 4G signal strength in a particular geographical area when users input data, the PIN code of that area. However, Reliance Jio is yet to issue any official communication regarding the rumour.
It is worth noting that Bharti Airtel has openly welcomed Reliance Jio's entry into the Indian telecom spectrum. "We also welcome Jio's call to leading operators to work together. As a responsible operator we will fulfil all our regulatory obligations as we have always done," a statement of the company said.
"Over the last 20 years, Airtel has been contributing towards building a digitally enabled India and remains fully committed to and take leadership in supporting the Government's Digital India vision. We will continue to innovate and deliver best-in-class products and services to our customers," it added.
