Reliance continues to expand its LYF smartphone portfolio in India with new and affordable handsets, which will be ready to support the soon-to-release Jio 4G service.
The telecom giant's smartphone brand this week launched two new phones in its Water series, the Water 4 and Water 6, both priced under Rs. 10,000.
With the launch of two new Water smartphones, the total number of handsets in that series reaches six, but the company also has other series, including Earth, Wind and Flame. The all-new Water 4 and Water 6 smartphones have identical specifications and design.
Surprisingly, we found no differences between the Water 4 and Water 5 smartphones. In fact, both phones are also priced the same, which raises the question about the need to launch Water 4 in the first place. In Reliance's justification, the Water 5 was launched in May with a price tag of Rs. 11,699, but the price was dropped later to Rs. 7,599.
Nevertheless, Reliance LYF has priced Water 4 and Water 6 smartphones at Rs. 7,599 and Rs. 8,999, respectively. Except for double storage and a hint of gold hue in Water 6, both handsets are the same inside and out.
LYF Water 4 and Water 6 smartphones feature a 5-inch HD display with 294ppi and Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection. Both handsets are powered by the same 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, which is backed by 2GB RAM. The Water 4 smartphone gets 16GB onboard storage, while Water 6 offers 32GB, both without a microSD card option.
In terms of camera, Water 4 and Water 6 smartphones pack a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 5MP front snapper individually. Both phones also have the same 2,920mAh battery, which the company claims to deliver up to 15 hours of 4G talk time. As expected, the new Water smartphones will support 4G LTE and VoLTE along with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and FM.
Water 4 is available in white colour while Water 6 gets a combination of white and gold.
