Reliance is building a solid platform ahead of its Jio 4G rollout in India with a wide range of Lyf series of smartphones in all price ranges. The company launched two new handsets, the LYF Flame 4 and Flame 3, both priced at Rs. 3,999.
There are slight differences between the Flame models despite the same price. The Flame 3 is available online exclusively via HomeShop 18, whereas the Flame 4 is available in retail stores. Both smartphones expand the Flame series, which already has the Flame 1 and Flame 2 priced, at Rs. 5,599 and Rs. 4,799, respectively.
LYF Flame is the affordable 4G LTE-enabled smartphone series, while the company offers Earth, Water and Wind series at a higher range with premium specifications.
Reliance LYF Flame 3 and 4 are identical in terms of specifications. Both phones have the same 4-inch WVGA display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 512MB RAM and dual SIM support. The Flame 3 smartphone offers 4GB onboard storage while the Flame 4 doubles it to 8GB space. Both support microSD card storage expansion up to 32GB.
On the camera front, the Flame 3 has an edge with its 5MP primary camera with LED flash and a 2MP front snapper while the Flame 4 offers a 2MP rear-facing shooter and a VGA camera sensor on the front. The battery is bigger on the Flame 3, which is bigger 1,700mAh than the Flame 4's 1,400mAh unit, but both phones tend to offer up to 4.5 hours of talk time.
The Flame 3 and 4 smartphones run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and support Microsoft Exchange, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for connectivity options. The Flame 2 smartphone was launched just this month alongside the Wind 4, which is priced Rs. 6,799, and offers entry-level features to match the price tag.
