Reliance Jio's free 4G Preview offer, which is currently valid for three months and applicable to select smartphone brands, could now be extended to one year for Reliance LYF users in the near future.
According to a Digit report, Reliance Jio would be offering high-speed free 4G data for one year for users of only LYF smartphones, and this offer would be different from the current Preview initiative [Read the review of Reliance Jio 4G Preview, HERE].
The Digit report quoted unnamed sources as saying that under the LYF-exclusive 4G initiative, users would not get free SMS and voice calls, but the 4G data would be valid for a year as opposed to the current three months under the Preview scheme.
However, it is not known whether LYF users would get to enjoy unlimited 4G data, and a possibility of a monthly data limit cannot be ruled out.
Reliance is expected to officially make an announcement soon regarding offering LYF-exclusive 4G data.
As of now, Reliance Jio's 4G Preview continues to find more OEMs, and according to new developments, Reliance Digital has inked deals with brands such as Sansui, Videocon and Sony to provide free unlimited 4G data, voice calls and SMS to users with 4G-compatible handsets.
This has forced competing telcos to slash prices of their data packs. Bharti Airtel has come out with a "Mega Saver Pack" which offers 1GB 4G/3G data at Rs. 1,498 valid for 28 days. Upon exhaustion of data, users can still continue to enjoy 4G/3G connectivity for 12 months by paying just Rs. 51 per month.
Another variant of the Mega Saver pack offers 1GB 4G/3G internet for Rs. 748 for 28 days and upon exhaustion of data, users can continue this offer for six months for Rs. 99 a month.
