After officially announcing Jio plans at the Reliance Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, the company's chairman has revealed some interesting offers on Jio devices. The company is committed to not only make its 4G network affordable for all, but also plans to launch supported devices at an affordable cost.
Ambani said that Reliance Jio will offer true 4G smartphones for as low as Rs. 2,999 and the company slashed the price of its popular LYF-powered hotspot device, JioFi, to an attractive Rs. 1,999. At this price, JioFi is the cheapest means to get unlimited 4G data till December 31. Of course, that is if we do not consider the free SIM cards that are being given to all the smartphone owners.
Reliance LYF JioFi was originally priced at Rs. 2,899 along with a free Jio 4G SIM. JioFi is a tiny, portable hotspot device, which can connect multiple devices such as smartphones and laptops all at once. It can be carried in a pocket or a bag to create your own personal Wi-Fi hotspot no matter where you go.
Reliance JioFi has a USB port, so it can be plugged in to provide internet on a laptop or a PC, while connecting up to 10 (recommended) devices wirelessly. But the device can connect up to 31 devices at once. It has a 2,300mAh battery, which can last up to 6-8 hours with a single charge.
JioFi buyers must activate the Jio Preview Offer after purchasing the device at any Reliance Retail, Digital, DX Mini store. Customers must carry their original ID and address proofs along with a passport size photograph. Customers must then tele-verify by calling 1800-890-1977 to activate data and install JioJoin and call 1977 to activate voice.
