Reliance Jio's disruptive 4G data plans have created panic in the often-calm telecom industry. By offering unlimited 4G internet for users until December 31, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has set some high standards for the incumbent operators. While most telcos have revised their strategies in the recent days, Reliance Jio still manages to outperform them all.
Idea Cellular has a new offer for its subscribers, where it is offering unlimited 4G internet for a negligible Re 1 fee. As tempting as the offer sounds, there is a big catch that keeps Jio's current offer unchallenged. But it is a good sign that telecom operators are pushing the limits on the so-called tariff-war.
There's an eligibility criteria to avail Idea's unlimited 4G offer. Firstly, the offer may not have any cap on the data consumed, but it certainly has a validity of just one hour. This means, existing Idea subscribers get unlimited 4G data for Re 1 for one hour under this limited period offer. In addition to that, once the offer is availed on a specific Idea number, it cannot be used again.
The limited period offer is valid only for existing Idea customers with a 4G smartphone and a 4G supported SIM card. Customers must dial 411 and follow the instructions to get unlimited 4G internet on their mobile for one hour. Ensure that the balance on the Idea number is at least Re 1, which will be deducted instantly.
This offer certainly is a great deal for existing Idea users and follows a recent price cut of up to 67 per cent on the existing 3G/4G internet offers. The telco is offering 10GB 3G/4G data at Rs 990, 2GB at Rs 349 and 3GB at Rs 649 and has special Freedom packs for its prepaid customers starting at Rs 100 for 300MB 2G data.
Reliance Jio schemes, even after the unlimited data offer, are still better than the most offers current telecom operators are giving. But the competition has just begun and users can look forward for some crazy deals in the future.
