Vijay Sethupathi's latest movie Rekka has opened to a positive response and has registered a good opening. The Tamil flick was released in over 200 screens on Friday, 8 October.
The actor's films have been consistently performing well and four of his films have got good openings in 2016. This factor played a major role in creating a positive pre-release buzz, thereby generating a good response for advance bookings.
The early estimation coming from the industry says that Rekka has earned over Rs 2.5 crore on the first day. It is higher than his recent film Aandavan Kattalai, which had collected about Rs 2 crore on the opening day.
Even though Rekka received fairly positive reviews, a section of the audience was not happy with the inclusion of songs and action in the film and deemed it forceful. Unlike his previous films, the latest movie is targeted to cater to the mass audience. Hence, the collections are expected to improve in the days to come.
However, the Tamil film has locked horns with Sivakarthikeyan's Remo and Prabhu Deva's Devi. Both the new films have garnered positive reviews. So, it is to be seen how the Vijay Sethupathi's flick will perform in the long holiday weekend.
Rekka is an action movie, which has been written and directed by Rathina Shiva of Arun Vijay's Vaa Deal fame and bankrolled by Ganesh. Lakshmi Menon plays the female lead in the film which also has Kishore, Kabir Duhan Singh, Harish Uthaman and others in the cast.
