Xiaomi upped the ante on its smartphone race by releasing Redmi Note 2, which competes against the likes of Lenovo K3 Note, YU Yureka Plus and others.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 and YU Yureka Plus pack similar displays, measuring 5.5 inches diagonally with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and 401ppi. YU Yureka Plus is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprint marks. Xiaomi, on the other hand, advanced on its display technology by minimising screen brightness to as low as 0.5cd/m2, which makes reading comfortable in low-light environment.
Processor
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is the latest release by the company and features advanced chipset compared to its aging rivals. Powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, Redmi Note 2 clocks speed at 2.0GHz. Comparatively, YU Yureka Plus is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.
RAM and Storage
The RAM in both phones is fixed at 2GB and the storage measures 16GB. But, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 lacks a microSD card slot, making it impossible for users to add extra storage. Yureka Plus, on the other hand, supports additional storage up to 32GB via microSD card.
Camera
At this range, cameras are getting primary focus. Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 features a 13-megapixel Samsung/OV sensor with AF, Phase Detection, 0.1s focus speed and LED flash. On the front side of the handset is a 5-megapixel 5-element lens with f/2.2 aperture.
Yureka Plus also offers an impressive camera unit. The primary shooter has a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 sensor, 5-element lens, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. The front camera has a 5-megapixel sensor with 71-degree angle lens.
Battery
Xiaomi takes the lead in this department with its 3,060mAh unit that delivers up to 11 hours and 30 minutes of talktime. On the other hand, Yureka Plus' 2,500mAh battery promises up to 8 hours of talktime. Redmi Note 2 has integrated Quick Charge 2.0 technology to juice up the battery from 0-60% in just 30 minutes.
Price and Availability
YU Yureka Plus is exclusively available on Amazon India for Rs. 8,999, which is discounted from its original Rs. 9,999 price tag. Since the handset is sold in flash sales, registrations are mandatory to participate in the sale, which happens every Thursday.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is yet to be launched in India, so the exact pricing and availability details are unknown. Given the specs, we are expecting the handset to be priced within Rs. 10,000 to get a sounding response from shoppers.
