After SS Rajamouli's Baahubali (Bahubali) 2 became a blockbuster, people have brought up Sridevi in news for saying no to the movie. The recent update is that the actress turned down the magnum opus because of her husband, Boney Kapoor, and his demands.
Sridevi was apparently the first choice for the role of Sivagami in Baahubali, but she rejected the offer and instead did the Tamil movie, Puli. According to Deccan Chronicle, the team of Baahubali is extremely upset with the news about Sridevi.
A source from the sets of Baahubali revealed some details about the issue to the publication, saying that it was Boney Kapoor who was the reason for Sridevi's decision to turn down the movie. The source told the daily: "We respect Srideviji a lot. And yes, she was the first choice for Sivagami. This was very early in the project."
He added: "But when we approached her, her husband, Boney Kapoor, quoted a staggering fee. Plus, he wanted a share of the Baahubali profits. We dropped the idea immediately, though we were very keen on casting Srideviji. Later, we came to know she did a Tamil film (Puli), where she was given the fee that her husband wanted."
It looks like Boney Kapoor wanted profit from his wife's work as well. However, most Baahubali fans would be glad to know that Ramya Krishnan played Sivagami, as it's difficult to imagine someone else doing justice to the role.
In fact, Ram Gopal Varma didn't lose a chance to make Sridevi feel worse about rejecting the epic role. "If @SrideviBKapoor did Bahubali 2 she would have gotten more credit than Prabhas it being her very next film after English Vinglish," RGV tweeted. Now, these words may make the veteran actress even more remorseful.
