Despite making quite a number of signings last summer, Real Madrid have endured a disappointing season as they are set to finish the 2014/15 campaign trophy less.
The Los Blancos have been knocked out of the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey and they have also lost the race to secure the La Liga title.
This campaign will be even more bitter for Real Madrid if their arch rivals Barcelona, who have won the Spanish title and are in the finals of the Copa Del Rey and Champions League, manage to secure the treble this season.
Although it is still not clear whether manager Carlo Ancelotti will be allowed to stay after a trophy less campaign, president Florentino Perez is sure to invest heavily this summer to further reinforce his squad.
Quite a number of names are already being linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, but the biggest of them is probably Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The Los Blancos are keen to sign a new shotstopper to replace the ageing Iker Casillas, who is expected to leave the Bernabeu this summer.
Although they have a number of goalkeepers lined up as possible replacements for Casillas, De Gea is reportedly their number one target this summer.
The chances of the Los Blancos securing De Gea's signature this summer also looks pretty good as the Spaniard has still not signed a contract extension this season despite United reportedly offering him a mega deal believed to be worth around 200,000-a-week.
And, according to a latest report in the Daily Express, the Spaniard will be moving to be Bernebeu this summer even though Arsenal are also reportedly keen to sign him.
Apart from De Gea, Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to the Sun.
The 33-year-old shotstopper, who has been an important player at Stamford Bridge for the last 10 years, is expected to leave this summer after being displaced by Thibaut Courtois as the Blues' first choice shotstopper this season.
Although many clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Inter Milan and Besiktas are understood to be interested in the Cech, the goalkeeper will probably opt to move to Madrid if Real decide to sign him.
Cech will certainly be a good addition to the Los Blancos squad as he is still very good goalkeeper, arguably one of the best in the world, despite not being quite as young as De Gea.
Real Madrid are also looking to re-sign Spanish striker Alvaro Morata from Juventus for a reported £21.6 million following the youngster's performance against the Los Blancos in the semi-finals of the Champions League, according to the Daily Star.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for Juventus this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, following his €20 million switch from Real Madrid last summer.
And now the Los Blancos reportedly want him back. If Real do re-sign Morata this summer then Karim Benzema may be leaving the Bernabeu at the end of the season, with a number of clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool eyeing him.
Gareth Bale is also being linked with a move out of the Bernabeu this summer, following his recent poor performances.
Although United have been strongly linked with a summer move for the Welshman, the Sun claims that their rivals Manchester City are reportedly looking to beat the Red Devils to Bale's signature by making a bid of £80 million for the former Tottenham winger.
