Real Madrid have finally signed one of the most sought after 16-year-old's -- Norwegian talent Martin Odegaard from Stromsgodset.
The player has been a subject of transfer news for long, as he was heavily linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
The player was reportedly said to be close to signing with Bayern Munich in recent days, but Real Madrid were always one of the favourites.
Odegaard is only expected to be unveiled at a press conference today, after he completes his medical.
"Real Madrid CF and Stromsgodset Fotball have reached an agreement for the transfer of Martin Odegaard," read a statement on the club's official website.
"After undergoing a medical exam, the player will hold a press conference with the director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, today 22 January at 1.30pm CET in the Ciudad Real Madrid press room."
Though, the club has not disclosed the fee, for which the club signed, Spanish media reports suggest that the club paid around £2.3m (€3m) for his services, while the player is said to earn around £80,000 a week at the Bernabeu, which is a huge figure considering his age.
Odegaard visited all the clubs that were interested in him, before deciding to join one of the biggest clubs in world football, Real Madrid, which includes a galaxy of stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale.
The youngster would expect to learn as much as possible from such an array of stars, who have themselves been impressed by what they have seen of the Norwegian.
After making his debut for Stromsgodset at the age of 15, he had caught everyone's eye with his skills on the field.
Such was his talent that Odegaard even got a chance to play for his national side, becoming the youngest international when he started against United Arab Emirates at the age of 15 years and 253 days in August.
Though, he may not have a great physique, he possesses some great pace along with a great understanding of the game at such an early age.
Odegaard's father has also been provided with a job at Real Madrid as well.
