"Real Houewives of Atlanta" star Phaedra Parks is allegedly gearing up to file for divorce from her husband Apollo Nida, who will shortly begin his eight-year-sentence for money laundering.
Nida's blatant disrespect for their marriage is what has prompted Parks to serve him the papers, a source told Media Take Out.
"Phaedra and Apollo had their issues, even before he got caught up (in his legal drama). Phaedra is a good and loving woman and she tried to stand by him, honor, and hold him down," the source said.
But, Nida has been staying out all night, and he doesn't even bother telling his wife where he is, the source said, adding, "He's out here talking disrespectful about their marriage."
According to Media Take Out, the divorce papers were filed in a Fulton County courthouse on Friday, and it will be made public sometime this week.
The Parks-Nida marriage has been going through a rough patch, and the problems in their marriage grew following Nida's legal troubles.
Nida recently confessed that their marriage is as good as over, when Parks did not accompany him to his sentencing. The fact that he lied about his relationship with Kenya Moore would have been the last straw for Parks.
As reported earlier, Nida has always led Parks to believe that Moore was pursuing him for a relationship. But recently, it was revealed that Nida wanted to hook up with Moore, and it was with this intention that he texted her in the past.
Nida confessed as much last week, and the entire incident was caught on camera.
In the meantime, Parks is said to be struggling to make sense of the mess that Nida has dragged her in. And because her children are her first priority, Parks is planning to lie to them about where their dad is.
"Phaedra is so stressed about the decision she must make now because of Apollo's mistakes," a source told Life&Style magazine, according to Classicalite. "She is still deciding on whether or not she plans on letting the kids visit Apollo in prison... She's worried it will scar them for life."
"For now, she is just telling them that daddy is going away for a while. She dreads the day when they are old enough to realize that their father is in prison, and will be for most of their childhood," the source added.
