According to the leaked brochure, the new Dzire's diesel variants will come with rated fuel efficiency of 28.40kmpl. This will make Dzire the most fuel efficient diesel car in the country.
The current Swift Dzire has rated fuel efficiency of 26.59kmpl. The 2017 Dzire uses the same diesel mill yet it returns more mileage, thanks to the tweaks for the engine with enhanced thermal efficiency and low-friction rocker arms.
The increased mileage is also due to the weight reduction of the car. Built on the Heartect platform, the new Dzire is lighter by 105 kilograms. Weight reduction also increased mileage of petrol models by up to two kmpl, according to the information leaked.
The new Dzire is powered by 85bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 75bhp 1.3-litre diesel mill come mated to five-speed manual transmission. Both the engines are also available with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) or AGS in Maruti speak, except the base trim.
On the design front, the compact sedan now features a young look. Additions such as large grille at the front and sweptback projector headlights and LED Daytime Running Lights give a complete makeover. At the rear, the newly-designed tail lamps with LED strip, tweaked bumper and chrome slat over the number plate adds to the design's richness.
The cabin of the new version has been borrowed from the new Swift hatchback unveiled in December 2016 in Japan. The dual-tone colour treatment will stay intact. The cabin also gets generous dose of faux wood trim even at the lower portion of the flat-bottom steering wheel and dashboard fascia.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be available in four trim levels – LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+. It is expected to be priced from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh, ex-showroom.
