The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday fixed the reference rate for the US dollar at 49.3525 rupees and the euro 65.6263 rupees.

The corresponding rates of dollar and euro for the previous day (March 1, 2012) were 49.1545 rupees and 65.5692 rupees respectively.

Based on the reference rate for the US dollar and middle rates of the cross-currency quotes, the exchange rates of British pound as against the rupee is 78.6827 as against 78.2490 on the previous day (March 1, 2012) and that of Japanese yen is 60.61 as against 60.67 the previous day.
