Rumours of Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri and actress Nimrat Kaur's affair came as a big shocker for many. As some reports suggested that the duo had been in a relationship for the past two years, interestingly, the actress has also been away from celluloid for the same period of time.
While Nimrat had hardly been in news for any affair, Ravi was long back romantically involved with yesteryear actress Amrita Singh. Their relationship dated in the 80s and they had even reportedly gotten engaged.
However, it did not turn into marriage as Ravi did not want an actress wife, but a house-wife. "I definitely don't want an actress wife. I am chauvinistic. Her home should be her first priority," the former cricketer was quoted as saying by India Today back then.
On the other side, Amrita, who was on the peak of her stardom then, did not want to sacrifice her career. "At the moment I am too involved in my career to give it up. But I am sure after a couple of years, I will be ready to become a full-time wife and mother," she had said in response to Ravi's comment.
Later, Ravi got married to classical dancer Ritu Singh and Amrita had tied the knot with Saif Ali Khan. However, both the marriages eventually ended in divorce.
Ravi was recently linked with Nimrat, who is again an actress. Ravi's earlier comment of not preferring an actress wife and Nimrat's absence from the big screen for two years seems to have a connection.
Considering his previous remark, it appears that Ravi is someone who would not like to see his lady love romance someone else onscreen. While reports suggest that he and Nimrat have been romantically involved with each other since two years, it is pertinent to note that the actress has been missing from the big screen for the same period of time. Her last film, Airlift was released two years back. Although she appeared in a web series last year, it had no romance angle in it.
Ravi Shastri and Nimrat Kaur deny all rumours
"Nothing to say when it is the biggest load of cow dung," Shastri told Mid-Day. The 56-year-old India head coach said after several reports hinted at his alleged relationship with the actress.
Kaur, 36, took to Twitter and slammed the said media report with a cryptic message.
"Fact: I may need a root canal. Fiction: Everything else I read about me today. More facts: Fiction can be more hurtful, Monday blues exist and I love ice cream. Here's to trash free happy days ahead," Kaur wrote.
