Ranveer Singh may team up with one of his favourite directors, Zoya Akhtar, for a film that will explore relationships between siblings. The "Bajirao Mastani" actor will reportedly play brother to either Ranbir Kapoor or Varun Dhawan.
A source told Catch News that after "Befikre," Zoya's is the only film Ranveer has signed; he is eager to work with her. They came together for "Dil Dhadakne Do," in which the young actor essayed the role of the ever-confused Kabir Mehra.
Zoya has apparently showed interest in bringing either Ranbir or Varun on board her project, but they have their plates full. "While Ranbir will be busy with the Sanjay Dutt Biopic followed by Ayan Mukerji's superhero film, Varun Dhawan has allotted bulk dates for 'Judwaa 2'," the insider added.
The film will boast of an ensemble cast and an A-list actress. Rumour has it that "A-list" star could be Alia Bhatt. When Ranveer and Alia came together for an online travel portal commercial, there were reports that they have been signed on by Zoya.
"Buzz is that Alia may have been approached for Zoya's film. As they have never been paired before, this would give the film a fresh appeal," a source told DNA.
In other news, "Befikre," in Ranveer's words, is a light-hearted film and is unlike what director Aditya Chopra (he returns to direction after a hiatus of seven years) has ever made. The team intends to wrap up the film's Paris shoot in four months.
Although Ranveer has known Aditya for quite a few years, he said that he was getting to know him better only now. "I would say our relationship has become very substantial in the past few months as we have collaborated as actor-director and I have understood that why he is one of the biggest directors of Hindi cinema," he told IANS.
Scheduled for a Dec. 9 release, the breezy romantic comedy also features Vaani Kapoor.
