Ranveer Singh has undoubtedly had a rocking 2018 pocketing two blockbuster films like Padmaavat and Simmba. He also bagged the Best Actor award for his role of the menacing Mughal emperor Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat at last year's Star Screen Awards. Following the success of the films, Ranveer Singh has reportedly hiked his fees and has become the highest paid actors of his generation.
"Ranveer is riding a never-before high after the super-success of Padmaavat and Simmba. His equity has shot up to a much higher level than what it was in 2017. Understandably he has hiked his price, he now charges much more than his contemporary Varun Dhawan," a prominent producer was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will now be seen in Zoya Akhtar's upcoming directorial Gully Boy where the actor will be seen getting into the skin of his character of an underground rapper coming from the bylanes of Mumbai trying to making a name for himself in the music industry.
The movie also stars Alia Bhatt and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles and two actresses will be locking lips with Ranveer Singh in the film. Gully Boy is a story inspired by slum rappers of Dharavi and is slated to release on February 14, 2019.
Ranveer is also prepping for the role of legendary cricketer and all-rounder Kapil Dev in his biopic called 83 which will be directed by Kabir Khan. According to reports, Deepika Padukone will be seen playing his onscreen wife in the film. However, an official confirmation from the makers about casting Deepika in the film is still awaited.
