After the success of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ramleela and Bajirao Mastani, fans are waiting to see the sizzling chemistry of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone once again on screen in Padmavati. However, they will be left disappointed as reports say there is no scene in the movie showing the two together.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period drama Padmavati is about the ruler Alauddin Khilji, who falls in love with the queen of Chittor Rani, Padmavati. Singh plays the role of the ruler, Padukone is the female lead and Shahid Kapoor plays the role of Rani Padmavati's (Deepika) husband King Ratan Singh of Chittor. Despite the romantic angle, Singh will not romance Padukone in the film.
"Ranveer and Deepika are not romantically paired opposite each other in the film. There is no romantic song or scene between them in the narrative of the film or even as a dream sequence. In fact, there is no interaction between Alauddin Khilji and Padmavati. This is written history and history cannot be tampered with," Press Trust of India quoted sources as saying.
"...Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as a filmmaker, has always been sensitive towards people's sentiments and has treated the subject with utmost respect," the source concluded.
But there could be a possibility of Padukone and Kapoor romancing on screen, as they play the role of husband and wife in Padmavati.
In other news, director Bhansali has already begun the shooting of the film with Padukone on November 1. "Yes, technically speaking, it was Deepika who faced the camera first for the film, since she is playing the title role. Sanjay sir also felt that she has been his lucky charm. So she shot for over two hours on the lavish set created in Mehboob Studios," the Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
