Rani Mukerji is on a promotional spree as her comeback film Hichki releases on February 23. And to promote that, she was supposed to shoot for Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty's reality show, India's Next Superstar on Monday. But to everyone's surprise, Rani cancelled the shoot and bailed out.
According to Mirror, the actress arrived on the sets on time, also got ready but then her manager came and told the makers of the show that she won't be able to shoot as she was suffering from severe backache and fever.
A source from the sets told the leading tabloid, "Initially, Rani had given the time slot of 11am-2pm but it was changed to 3pm-7pm on Sunday. Everyone rescheduled their plans to accommodate her. She arrived on the sets as planned but was in her vanity van till about 4pm. Karan went to check on her and they chatted for half an hour, after which Rani's manager informed the show's team that she wouldn't be able to shoot. The team is trying to reschedule her appearance since the celebrity guest spot now lays vacant for the episode."
The report further stated that Rani Mukerji was to perform on a medley of songs from Karan Johar's films – Shava Shava from Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham and a song from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. She was also supposed to share her story as a newcomer in the industry with the contestants.
Rani Mukerji's next, Hichki, celebrates self-belief, resilience of human spirit and hope. The film is about turning disadvantages into opportunities and staring down at challenges and ultimately winning over them. She plays the role of Naina Mathur who has a nervous system disorder, Tourette Syndrome that forces an individual to make involuntary repetitive movements or sounds.
The trailer that recenty came out is garnering postivie responses from the audience. YRF's Hichki is directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma. The film is all set to release on Feb 23, 2018.
