British luxury SUV-maker Land Rover is bringing Velar to India later this year. Now much ahead of its launch in the country, some of the dealers of JLR have started accepting bookings for the upcoming SUV.
The emerging reports suggest that the bookings of Velar are being accepted for a down-payment of Rs 3 lakh, which are fully refundable if the customer changes mind. Not just that, the dealerships of the company have also given a hint at the pricing of the model in India.
A report of Motoroids notes that Velar, which will come in four variants in India -- Velar, Velar S, Velar SE and Velar HSE -- is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 1.05 crore to Rs 1.35 crore (ex-showroom). This is after the drop of pound's value in the market post Britain's decision to exit from the European Union (Brexit). Apparently, JLR had earlier planned to price it in the range of Rs 1.30 crore to Rs 1.60 crore.
Under the hood, Velar is offered with two diesel engine options in three states of tune. The 2.0-litre diesel mill develops 178bhp and 430Nm, while its higher tune will be 237bhp and 500Nm. The 3.0-litre motor will develop 296bhp and 700Nm. It also gets 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol engine, which is tuned to churn out 247bhp and 365Nm tune and 296bhp and 400Nm tune.
The range topping 3.0-litre petrol supercharged V6 mill, on the other hand, belts out 375 bhp and 450Nm of torque. All the engines are mated to ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox.
