Ketan Mehta's "Rang Rasiya" featuring Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Based on renowned 19th century painter Raja Ravi Varma, the film was first screened at the International film festival in 2008. The period-drama faced unending delay due to objections pouring in from the Indian censor board. Since the film is peppered with bold scenes and nudity, it was obvious that it would be stopped from screening freely.
However, according to recent reports, an uncensored video of the lead pair engaging in intimate moments has been leaked online. "The video has put colours to beautiful use. The lead pair looks quite comfortable with each other and not their awkward self. Apart from a few cringe-worthy moments, the video on the whole has been shot in good taste. The footage is part of the Kahe Sataye song," stated a Bollywood Life report.
Interestingly, Hooda, who plays the role of Ravi Varma in the film didn't hesitate during the bold scenes with Sen. Calling it a 'no big deal', the actor also added that people have to learn to watch such scenes with a perspective.
"It's a same as doing an emotional scene; I don't even consider them bold. It's about two people having feelings for each other and it culminates into a physical intimacy. Graphic pornographic images are not in the film. Yes, there is frontal nudity but that's out of love from a muse to an artist," Rediff quoted Hooda.
"Rang Rasiya" has hit the theatres on 7 November, and has been widely acclaimed for the stellar performances and soul of the story. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's "Maya Memsaab" co-star Deepa Sahi, the music of the film has been composed by Sandesh Sandhilya.
