Probably setting a new trend in the conduct of film auditions, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and Nissan Motors India is starting a search for 20 talents to act along with him in a three-minute-long movie titled "New Star of India."
The innovative audition will be conducted on social networking site Facebook from Wednesday. One can participate in the audition by uploading onto the dedicated Facebook page a short footage showcasing the dancer in him or her.
"Members of the public will vote to decide who the 20 lucky Ranbir co-stars will be, and will also help produce the movie by shaping the plot, choosing the music, picking the wardrobe and naming the characters," reports IBN Live.
Apart from being screened to millions on Facebook, "New Star of India" will be premiered at exclusive red carpet events in cities across India in January 2012. During these events, participants will get a chance to win a Nissan Micra car.
"I'm incredibly excited to be involved in this ground-breaking movie - no one's attempted anything like it before," said Ranbir Kapoor.
"To all fans out there, this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join me in the magic of the movies. I'm looking forward to seeing your auditions and can't wait to meet my co-stars, so get dancing, get voting and get involved," he added.
"The company was concerned about innovation and what better way than to give public a chance to dance with the stars," said Kiminobu Tokuyama, managing director of Nissan Motors in India.
Those interested in participating in the audition will have to record a 45-second-long footage showing their best Bollywood moves and upload it onto the dedicated "New Star of India" page on Facebook - www.facebook.com/nissanindia.
