Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has reportedly clinched a ₹100-crore deal with Disney UTV for his debut production "Jagga Jasoos".
Ranbir and Anurag Basu's Picture Shuru Productions and Siddharth Roy Kapur-led Disney UTV have reportedly joined hands for the production of the detective film, reported The Economic Times.
According to the report, a high-end deal was made but the figure was not immediately confirmed by Roy Kapur.
The expensive contract is said to provide Hollywood's Disney Studios a grand entry in the Indian market with business opportunities from the adventured-based film.
"Disney UTV believes it (Jagga Jasoos) has the potential to emerge as the first Disney branded franchise out of India, with scope for sequels, merchandise, graphic comics, a television show, online games and much more," reported the Economic Times on the film's future prospect paired with Disney.
Also, it is a huge leap for the 31-year-old actor who has proved his box office credibility with films like "Rockstar", "Barfi!' and "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani".
Ranbir's upcoming "Jagga Jasoos" is slated to be an adventure thriller featuring a young madcap detective.
Even though the deal would provide major brand value to Ranbir's stardom, the actor feels he is not in the league of the reigning Khans - Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir.
"I can never compete with them. They are the true superstars," Ranbir told PTI recently.
The actor's latest film "Besharam" received disappointing reviews upon its release on Wednesday. Now, it remains to be seen whether his debut production will prove to be a success or end up as a box office dud.
