Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor seems to have accepted the superstar status that has come his way after giving back-to-back hits. The heartthrob has decided to follow the style of the biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
According to recent reports, Ranbir will release his upcoming movie, "Bombay Velvet" co-starring Anushka Sharma on the occasion of Christmas next year, which is a slot preferred by Bollywood superstars to release their movies.
Announcing the release date of "Bombay Velvet", Vikas Bahl of Phantom Films and co-producers of the movie told Press Trust of India, "The shooting for Bombay Velvet will begin mid-July. We have decided to release the film during Christmas 2014. The film is fit for the festive period."
Ranbir has decided to pick the Christmas slot which is usually preferred by Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood industry- Aamir Khan. His previous blockbuster hits, including "Taare Zameen Par", "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots", hit the screens in the month of December and close to the festival season of Christmas. Aamir's upcoming movie and the third instalment of "Dhoom" franchise - "Dhoom 3" co-starring Katrina Kaif is also set to hit the screens on 25 December.
While Aamir released three of his movies during the occasion of Christmas, Salman and Shah Rukh also released their movies "Dabangg 2" and "Don 2" during the festival respectively.
It seems like Ranbir is gearing up to clash with the superstars after thye success of "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", which has surpassed the collections of Salman's "Dabangg" and Shah Rukh's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" by minting ₹142 Crore in the box office.
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, "Bombay Velvet" will also feature ace filmmaker Karan Johar in grey character. The movie is said to be based on some real incidents that occurred in Mumbai between 1950s and 1970s.
