There were reports that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone had returned a major portion of their fees to the producer and distributor of "Tamasha". However, a report in Pinkvilla now suggests that this was just a rumour.
Ranbir and Deepika-starrer "Tamasha" could not have much impact on the box office. The film opened to decent box office collection, but eventually lost momentum. While the movie received mixed reviews from the critics, "Tamasha" was declared an average grosser. It was also reported that the distributors had bought "Tamasha" rights for a big sum as they felt Ranbir-Deepika pairing will work wonders at the box office.
Having just recovered the cost of production, it was reported that Ranbir had returned Rs 10 crore to "Tamasha" distributor UTV and producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Also, Deepika had reportedly given away around Rs 5 crore so that the distributor and producer do not have to bear losses.
However, a recent report suggests that the two stars have not returned any money to the makers of "Tamasha". "Ranbir and Deepika story is untrue. They both are proud of the film and a lot of people have loved the movie. As far as returning the money is concerned. it is absurd," Deepika's spokesperson told the publication.
