Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh starrer "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela" is still holding its grip at collection centers worldwide. The passionate love story, mixed with action set-pieces, has been raking in more money at the box offices than the newly released films.
The epic love story helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has minted over ₹45.49 crore ($7.3 million) in total, after completing third weekend run in theaters internationally.
"#RamLeela is rock-steady. Overseas total *after Weekend 3*: approx $7.3 million [₹45.49 crores]. Super Hit," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Ram-leela", hailed as a landmark film in Bhansali's career, remained unaffected even with a series of other big budget new releases.
The domestic total of the film after third weekend stands at approximately ₹110 crore. The combined India and overseas total of the film is now around ₹155.49 crore.
The country-wise breakup of the film, according to Bollywood Hungama, is: US total ₹16.41 crore, UK ₹8.28 crore, UAE ₹10.35 crore, Australia ₹2.97 crore and New Zealand ₹64.44 lakh.
"Ram-leela", a desi version of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", opened to mixed reviews from critics. But the film managed to rake in moolah at the box office.
"Ram-leela" has successfully crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India and has also become one of the most profitable films of the year. The film was made on a budget of around ₹30 to ₹35 crore, which it managed to earn within its first week.
With the film joining the ₹100 crore club, Deepika has become the first Indian actress to have played the leading lady in four back-to-back films which crossed the century mark in a year.
