Director Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has apparently challenged filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, by announcing to do biopic on late legendry actor Bruce Lee and release it on the same date of his film Little Dragon.
Shekhar Kapur had recently announced that he is working on the official biopic of Bruce Lee. Little Dragon's pre-production works are now underway and US casting director Mary Vernieu is on hunt for suitable actors for various characters in the film for which regular shooting is expected to begin from July in Malaysia.
Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter account on Monday to share the news about his biopic of Bruce Lee. The filmmaker tweeted: "Just because of my devotional worship of Bruce Lee I am going to make his biopic and release it same time as Shekar kapur's authorised one."
Ram Gopal Varma added, "I have nothing against Shekhar Kapur who I admire immensely but it's just my obsessive fascination for Bruce Lee. Inspite of closeness of family and brilliance of @shekharkapur i believe only I can do justice to do his biopic. I know tremendously more about Bruce Lee than his daughter Shannon Lee,his wife Linda Lee and @shekharkapur."
The filmmaker did not stop there! He also wrote a detailed note on his Facebook page about his love and devotion for Bruce Lee from his college days. He also shared a note with Shekar Kapoor along with one of his photos taken during his college days. He tweeted: "Hey Shekar, here's how I was practicing after I watched Enter The Dragon in my college days." I reply, Shekar Kapur wrote: "Wow!"

Bruce Lee's daughter Shannon Lee is producing Little Dragon under her banner Bruce Lee Entertainment along with Los Angeles-based Convergence Entertainment. The movie is all about how the 1950s Hong Kong social and political forces shaped Bruce Lee into the most famous martial arts star and also deals with how family disappointment, young love, true friendship, betrayal, racism, deep poverty and an inner fire threatened to unravel his destiny.
