Raksha Bandhan is an Indian festival that celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters. This year, it falls on Saturday, 29 August.

On this day, female members in the family tie a scared thread on their male siblings' wrist symbolising their love and bonding.

As Indians across the globe celebrate Raksha Bandhan, Hollywood celebrities including Nina Dobrev, Norman Reedus, Ginnifer Goodwin, Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion share their thoughts about relationships. We bring you here their top quotes on the special occasion:

Nina Dobrev: People aren't defined by their relationship. The whole point is being true to yourself and not losing yourself in relationships, whether romances or friendships.

Nathan Fillion: You know, I endeavour to be more like my older brother. He's very magnetic. He's actually very much like 'Castle' in that people are attracted to him, and just want to be near him. You want to know where my brother is in a crowded room? He's the guy with the crowd around him.

Ginnifer Goodwin: I'm a better person in a relationship, and I'm a happier person. I need to come home at the end of the day and have it not be about me and my freaking hair and makeup and character motivations anymore. And I think my work is more inspired when home is safe and sound and solid, because what I do for a living is so bananas and so insecure.

Norman Reedus: I'm one of those guys that - as far as relationships and stuff go - if you smile at me, I'm like, 'Let's date for three years' - which is just ridiculous.

Stana Katic: I have a lot of brothers. It's easy for me to do physical stuff. I had to survive. I really love it, and I'd love to do more of it. I want to do action films. I want to go and hang off of wires, and jump off of bridges, and hang on bungee cords. I've always really loved it.
