The trailer of Raabta, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon, has a big surprise element that most of us failed to notice. The trailer features National Film Award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao in a guest appearance and he is unrecognisable in the movie promo.
Rajkummar plays the role of a 324-year-old man in the movie and for that, he has undergone a drastic transformation. He appears in the frame at the end of the trailer making it difficult to recognise him.
The Trapped actor did around 16-look test to get his appearence right. A special team from Los Angeles worked with Zuby Johal of Dirty Hands company to devise the look.
"Rajkummar was kind enough to do me a favour. It was tedious but, he patiently sat through it every day. I think, the idea of the prosthetics making him completely unrecognisable excited him as an actor," director Dinesh Vijan in a statement.
Not only his look, Rajkummar's body posture and voice modulation were also worked upon for the character. It took over five to six hours of make-up everyday to get Rajkummar into the character.
"It was so much fun as an actor. Dinoo (Dinesh) has a very clear vision as a director and he gave me a lot of freedom as an actor to explore. The prosthetics used to take almost five to six hours everyday and then I would start sweating inside all that make-up. It needed quite a bit of patience," Rajkummar said.
Raabta is a love saga starring the alleged lovebirds of Bollywood, Sushant and Kriti. The film also features Jim Sarbh, who played a negative character in Neerja. Apart from Rajkummar, Deepika Padukone will also do a cameo appearance in the film, but details on her look and role are kept under wraps.
