Looks like 'Stree' will return to haunt us, afterall!
Horror-comedy appears to be an emerging genre of Indian cinema and looks like the makers of Stree have already mastered the art! Almost a week after the release of Stree, Rajkumar Rao has revealed that the makers of the film are giving a serious thought about making the sequel.
Stree received a phenomenal response at the box-office and within seven days of its release, it amassed a business of a whopping Rs 48.38 crore in India, alone. Rajkumar Rao, who is one of the main protagonists of the film said, "We are putting serious thought behind the sequel. There is definitely a thought. There are a couple of ideas that Raj and DK were thinking about but we wanted to know how people will respond to the film. The response has been overwhelming. So, we are keeping our fingers crossed."
He further revealed that the makers were confident about the storyline but sceptical about the audience response. However, they received good reviews and a great response at the ticket window, which is concrete proof for the makers to go ahead with the sequel. He added, "Whatever numbers the film reaches, we will be happy and proud of it. It is important but that is not the only thing that matters. After 50 years, nobody will remember how much money the film made but they will remember films."
In a general purview, Bollywood movies attempting a horror genre doesn't receive a warm response from the audience. These horror movies generally struggle at the box office to make costs meet but the horror-comedy of film 'Stree' proved to be a successful money model for the makers.
Since, the movie had an open-ended climax, the audience was hoping for the announcement of a sequel and it looks like the prayers of the fans are answered!
