Rajinikanth and Pa Ranjith's movie had reportedly hit a roadblock recently as the director had a contract to make a flick with producer Gnanavel Raja. But now it has received a green signal, with Raja allowing the young director to work with the Tamil superstar.
Gnanavel Raja had signed a two-film deal with Pa Ranjith earlier. Acoording to the contract, he was supposed to make his next movie with Studio Green after completing "Madras" with Karthi. As the young director has hit the jackpot, with Rajinikanth giving his approval for his script, the contract issue came up.
But Gnanavel Raja showed his generous side by allowing Pa Ranjith to work with Rajinikanth even though it goes against his business interest. The producer has given his permission to the director to work with the superstar without thinking about the contract and return to him only after completing Rajini's next film.
This has come as a positive development for Pa Ranjith who has already finalised his crew. The director has signed Praveen KL for editing, Santhosh Narayanan for directing music, and G Murali for handling cinematography.
Meanwhile, this is a major development in the industry as Rajinikanth has broken his long-maintained policy of working only with experienced directors. For 15 years, he has opted for tried-and-tested directors like Suresh Krishna, Shankar, P Vasu, KS Ravikumar, and others. His daughter Soundarya Ashwin, who directed him in "Kochadaiiyaan", was the only exception until now.
Now, after a long time, he is working with a young director like Pa Ranjith, who has only two average commercial hits to his credits. His "Attakathi" and "Madras" were moderate hits in terms of commercial aspect, but it won huge appreciation from critics.
Coming to the project, it would not take long to complete it and the movie is likely to be released for Pongal 2015. The cast is yet to be finalised.
